Selection Process
Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET)
A state-level offline, OMR-based screening exam consisting of 100 objective questions (MCQs). It covers elementary arithmetic, logical reasoning, general science, general awareness, and basic languages. A negative marking penalty of 0.25 marks applies to incorrect answers.
Merit List & Post-Specific Shortlisting
Candidates receive a normalized scorecard valid for a period of up to three years. Based on specific department advertisements (such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, or VDO), UPSSSC releases a minimum cut-off percentile or score to shortlist applicants for subsequent recruitment phases.
Main Written Examination
A dedicated core examination tailored to the technical requirements and syllabus of the explicitly selected Group C vacancy or government post. This phase determines the primary merit listing for final selection.
Post-Specific Skill or Physical Test
A secondary qualifying phase required for specialized profiles. Examples include a standardized typing velocity speed run (e.g., Hindi data entry) for Junior Assistants or standard physical metrics and endurance standards (PMT/PET) for Forest Guards.
Document Verification & Medical Examination
A mandatory final check where all official personal certificates, qualifying mark sheets, reservation category quotas, and age parameters are thoroughly validated. A medical clearing board review confirms basic physical fitness requirements before job assignment.
