The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test [NEET (UG)] 2026 on 03 May 2026. To ensure a smooth testing experience, the NTA has released two crucial public notices regarding the exam day dress code and biometric verification protocols.
Official Dress Code & Permissible Items
- All candidates are permitted to carry transparent water bottles into the exam hall.
- While light clothing is generally preferred, candidates are allowed to wear full sleeves or woollens if they feel the need; however, they must report to the centre well in advance to enable proper frisking.
- Articles or objects of faith are allowed, provided candidates report to the centre early enough for frisking.
- Slippers and low heels are the preferred choice of footwear.
Biometric Verification & Exception Rules
- After completing the frisking process, it is mandatory for every candidate to undergo a biometric process before entering the exam room.
- If a candidate's biometric verification cannot be completed due to hardware failure, poor data quality, UIDAI connectivity issues, or a physical inability to provide biometric data, the candidate will still be permitted to enter the examination room.
- In such cases of biometric failure, the candidate must submit a written undertaking using a format that will be provided at the examination centre.
- To ensure zero distractions, candidates will NOT be disturbed for the biometric process during the core exam period from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM.
- For expected PwD/PwBD candidates, this undisturbed period extends up to 06:00 PM.
For further clarifications, candidates can contact the NTA helpline at 011-40759000 / 011-69227700 or email [email protected].
