he Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released an indicative short notification (CEN No. 01/2026) for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP). This massive recruitment drive announces a total of 11,127 vacancies across Indian Railways. Eligible candidates with a 10th pass certificate and ITI/Diploma qualifications can submit their applications strictly through online mode at rrbapply.gov.in starting from 15 May 2026

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

Age calculated as on: 1 Jul 2026

Candidates must be between 18 to 30 years of age to apply for the ALP post. Age relaxations will be applicable as per the detailed CEN guidelines.

Qualification

As per the preliminary notice, candidates must hold a 10th class pass certificate along with an ITI (NCVT/SCVT) or Diploma in Engineering. Full post-wise educational qualifications will be detailed in the comprehensive CEN.

Selection Process

CBT 1, CBT 2, CBAT, followed by Document Verification.

The RRB ALP selection process generally involves multiple stages:

  • Computer Based Test 1 (CBT 1)
  • Computer Based Test 2 (CBT 2)
  • Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
  • Document Verification (DV) & Medical Examination
