• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age:
  • General Category: 32 years (Should not have completed)
  • For BC (OBCM)/BCM/MBC/DC: 34 years (Should not have completed)
  • For SC/SC(A)/ST: 37 years (Should not have completed)

✅ No Maximum Age Limit – candidates belonging to BC (OBCM)s, BCMs, MBCs/DCs, SCs, SC(A)s, STs and Destitute Widows of all communities who possess an Educational Qualification which is higher than the Minimum General Educational Qualification

Educational Qualifications as on 03.09.2025

Educational and Technical Qualifications for Field Assistant:

• Must possess National Trade Certificate / National Apprenticeship Certificate awarded by the National Council for Training and Vocational Trade in any one of the following trades:
  • Electrician (or)
  • Wireman (or)
  • Electrical Trade under Centre of Excellence Scheme

Note: Candidates must have acquired qualifications on or before the notification date: 03.09.2025.

Knowledge of Tamil:

• Must have studied Tamil in SSLC/HSC/Degree
• Or must pass TNPSC’s Second Class Language Test in Tamil within 2 years of appointment

Medical & Physical Standards:

• Field Assistant require:
  • Standard III or better vision
  • certificate of physical fitness
  • Eye Fitness Certificate from the Government Hospital for specific posts

The Combined Technical Services Examination consists of two papers:

Paper I (November 16, 2025)

• Part A: Tamil Eligibility Test (SSLC standard, 100 questions, 150 marks, 40% minimum required)
• Part B: General Studies (SSLC standard, 75 questions)
• Part C: Aptitude & Mental Ability (SSLC standard, 25 questions)
• Total Marks: Part A: 150 Marks + Parts B & C: 150 Marks = 300 Marks
• Type of Exam: Objective Type
• Duration: 3 hours
• Time: 09.30 AM to 12.30 PM
• Mode: CBT – Computer Based Test

Note: Differently-abled candidates can claim exemption from writing Part A in Paper I (Tamil Eligibility Test) by uploading a Disability Certificate.

• Subject Paper: Trade: Electrician and Wireman – 200 questions
• Total Marks: 300 marks

• Mode: CBT – Computer Based Test

• Minimum Qualifying Marks Part A of Paper I (TET) :

TNEB Field Assistant recruitment 2025 (ITI Level) – II Selection Process and Ranking Procedure

The Combined Technical Services Examination (ITI Level) – II will be conducted as single stage
written examination

1. Written Examination: Marks from Paper I (Parts B & C) and Paper II determine the merit list.
2. Onscreen Certificate Verification: Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:3/1:2 ratio (General/Reserved) for posts not requiring experience, or 1:5 for posts requiring experience.
3. Physical Test: Final selection based on marks and reservation rules (1:3/1:1.5 ratio for counselling posts; 1:1.2 for non-counselling posts).

• Activity I: Pole Climbing & Cross Arm Fixing
  • Wear safety belt rope.
  • Climb a 9m (30 ft) PSC pole carrying rope tied to a 3-phase cross arm.
  • Fix wooden footrest support.
  • Secure safety belt on the pole.
  • Fix 3-phase cross arm at the top.
  • Climb down safely.
  • Time limit: 8 minutes (1 chance).
• Activity II: Rope Plaiting & Conductor Fixing
  • Plait rope with AAAC 7/3.15 mm conductor.
  • Mark and fix conductor on creeper.
  • Bind and fix in HT Disc.
  • Insert M.Pin.
  • Time limit: 2 minutes (1 chance).
• Activity III: Weight Carrying
  • Lift and carry 3 pieces of V-Cross Arm (3.5 ft each, ~35 kg).
  • Cover 100 meters distance.
  • No dropping allowed.
  • Time limit: 1 minute (1 chance).

After onscreen certificate verification and Physical Test, based on the marks obtained in the written
Examination and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments, candidates will be admitted to physical certificate verification in the ratio of 1:1.2.

Note: The candidates who have passed the Physical Test will only be considered for the next stage of
selection process.
