RRB JE 2026 Selection Process
RRB JE recruitment (CEN 04/2026) selects candidates through a four-stage process: Computer Based Test 1 (CBT-1), Computer Based Test 2 (CBT-2), Document Verification, and Medical Examination.
CBT-1 Pattern
CBT-1 is common to all posts — 100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes:
- Mathematics — 30 questions
- General Intelligence & Reasoning — 25 questions
- General Awareness — 15 questions
- General Science — 30 questions
CBT-2 Pattern
CBT-2 is 150 questions, 150 marks, 120 minutes, combining a common section and a discipline-specific Technical Abilities section:
- General Awareness — 15 marks
- Physics & Chemistry — 15 marks
- Basics of Computers and Applications — 10 marks
- Basics of Environment and Pollution Control — 10 marks
- Technical Abilities (discipline-specific) — 100 marks
Note: Technical Abilities questions differ by post/discipline — Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Allied Engineering each have their own syllabus (see below). RRB CMA (Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant) also follows this CBT-1 + CBT-2 structure but with its own Technical Abilities syllabus.
Document Verification & Medical Examination
Candidates shortlisted from CBT-2 undergo Document Verification, followed by a Medical Examination as per Railway medical standards for the applied post.
