Key Highlights

  • Paper-I is compulsory for all posts.
  • Paper-I consists of Math, Reasoning, English, GA, and Computer Knowledge.
  • 1 mark negative deduction for wrong answers in Paper-I; 0.50 in Papers II & III.
  • Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) is mandatory but qualifying.

The Tier-II examination is the decisive stage for final merit allocation. It is highly detailed and requires candidates to qualify in all sections of Paper-I separately. Higher qualifying standards for the Computer Knowledge Test and DEST will be set for specific roles, such as Assistant Section Officer (CSS, MEA), Inspector (CGST), and Tax Assistants.

Questions in Math (Paper-I) are at the Matriculation level, English is at the 10+2 level, while Paper-II and Paper-III are at the Graduation level. Prepare accordingly and prioritize accuracy to mitigate the heavy 1-mark penalty per wrong answer in Paper-I.

Exam Pattern

Paper-I (Compulsory for All Posts):

  • Session-I (2 hours 15 minutes):
    • Section-I: Math (30 Q) & Reasoning (30 Q). Total 60 Q, 180 Marks. 1 hour (30 min sectional timer per subject).
    • Section-II: English (45 Q) & General Awareness (25 Q). Total 70 Q, 210 Marks. 1 hour (40 min for English, 20 min for GA).
    • Section-III: Computer Knowledge Test. 20 Q, 60 Marks. 15 minutes.
  • Session-II (15 minutes): Section-IV: Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) - 2000 key depressions.

Paper-II & III (Post-Specific):

  • Paper-II (Statistics): 100 Q, 200 Marks. 2 hours.
  • Paper-III (General Studies - Finance and Economics): 100 Q, 200 Marks. 2 hours.
