The National Testing Agency (NTA), in accordance with the Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC), has finalized and published the official syllabus for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test [NEET (UG) - 2026].

Candidates preparing for the upcoming medical entrance examination must strictly adhere to this updated syllabus, which covers core concepts across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology) from classes 11 and 12.

1. NEET UG 2026 Exam Pattern Overview

2. NEET UG 2026 Subject-Wise Syllabus Breakdown

A. Biology (Botany & Zoology) Biology constitutes 50% of the NEET paper, making it the most critical section. The NMC has streamlined the syllabus to focus on foundational and applied biological sciences. Key units include:

  • Diversity in Living World & Structural Organization
  • Cell Structure and Function
  • Plant and Human Physiology
  • Reproduction & Genetics: Including detailed processes of Biotechnology (Recombinant DNA technology) and its applications in health and agriculture (e.g., Human insulin, gene therapy, transgenic animals).
  • Ecology and Environment: Covering population interactions, ecosystems, biodiversity conservation (hotspots, biosphere reserves, Red Data Book), and environmental issues.
  • Biology and Human Welfare: Focusing on microbes in household food processing, industrial production, and biocontrol agents.

B. Physics The Physics syllabus demands a strong grasp of conceptual clarity and numerical problem-solving. Major topics include:

  • Kinematics, Laws of Motion, and Work, Energy, & Power
  • Rotational Motion and Gravitation
  • Properties of Bulk Matter and Thermodynamics
  • Electrostatics, Current Electricity, and Magnetic Effects of Current
  • Optics, Dual Nature of Matter, and Electronic Devices

C. Chemistry Chemistry is divided into three core areas:

  • Physical Chemistry: Basic Concepts, Atomic Structure, Chemical Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, and Chemical Kinetics.
  • Inorganic Chemistry: Classification of Elements, P-Block, D-Block, F-Block elements, and Coordination Compounds.
  • Organic Chemistry: Basic Principles, Hydrocarbons, Organic compounds containing Halogens, Oxygen, and Nitrogen, along with Biomolecules.
