Detailed eligibility criteria

The supplied CEN 06/2026 notice requires a recognized university degree or equivalent held by 6 November 2026. The ordinary age range is 18–33 years as of 1 January 2027, with specified conditional relaxations. Candidates awaiting their final qualifying result should not apply. Medical suitability depends on the post.

Source: the 54-page CEN No. 06/2026 PDF supplied by the site owner, reviewed on 8 October 2026. The official RRB Chandigarh site lists a CEN 06/2026 Notification dated 7 October 2026; the matching hosted PDF, later corrigenda and live application status were not independently retrieved. The dates and rules below describe the supplied PDF and should be checked against any later official notice.

Degree and final-result deadline

All four notified posts require a degree from a recognized university or equivalent. The qualification must be held by the application closing date, 6 November 2026. Being in the final year or waiting for the final examination result does not satisfy this requirement.

Where a provisional or regular certificate is issued after the closing date, the notice describes evidence of the earlier result-declaration date: a dated consolidated marksheet, dated semester/year marksheets, or a certificate from the institution if the declaration date is otherwise unavailable. Keep evidence that establishes when the qualification was attained.

Age on 1 January 2027 and inclusive birth-date limits

The age reference date is 1 January 2027, not the day you fill in the form. Both boundary dates in the table are inclusive. The community rows below do not replace the separate conditional provisions for PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, Railway staff and other eligible groups.

Your application date of birth must match the SSC/SSLC/Matriculation/10th or equivalent certificate. The notice does not allow a later request to change it.

Community: OBC-NCL

Category and other age-relaxation conditions

The table distinguishes an added relaxation from a maximum permitted age. If more than one ground applies, the notice allows the maximum eligible relaxation; the grounds are not cumulative.

Apply the community, vacancy and certificate conditions to your own case. Do not add five years for SC/ST to a PwBD figure that already includes the community provision, or treat every Ex-Serviceman as receiving the same calculation.

Nationality and certificate of eligibility

Section 4.0 includes citizens of India, subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, and persons of Indian origin who migrated from the countries listed in that section with the intention of permanently settling in India.

The listed countries for the last group are Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam. The supplied notice requires a Government of India certificate of eligibility for the Nepal, Bhutan and specified person-of-Indian-origin categories.

Where a certificate of eligibility is required, admission to the examination may be provisional, but the certificate must be submitted at document verification. Check the exact category and documentary requirement in the notice.

Medical standards differ by post

Medical fitness is assessed through the prescribed Railway examination. Annexure A assigns B2 to Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, A2 to Goods Train Manager, and C2 to Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist.

The notice’s vision table is indicative rather than exhaustive. It refers candidates to the Indian Railway Medical Manual and applicable corrections. Candidates who do not meet the required medical standard are not promised an alternative appointment.

The supplied CEN excludes candidates who have undergone LASIK or other surgery to correct refractive error from A2 posts. For B2/C2, the notice refers to conditional eligibility under the cited Railway Board letter and Annexure VII(A). A personal assessment requires the relevant medical authority; the table is not an individual fitness clearance.

Indicative vision requirements in section 3.0

Standard: A2

Distant vision
6/9, 6/9 without glasses; no fogging test
Near vision and other checks
Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses; colour, binocular, night and myopic-vision tests

Standard: C2

PwBD suitability and support are separate checks

A PwBD certificate or age relaxation does not make every post suitable for every disability category. Check the post-wise suitability entries in Annexure A and the relevant disability and reservation provisions before ranking preferences.

Eligibility for a scribe or compensatory time is also a separate determination. Use the applicable writing-limitation, assessment and documentation rules; do not assume that every PwBD candidate receives 120 minutes in both CBTs.

The exam-pattern guide explains the different wording used for extra time in CBT 1 and CBT 2. Retain the required supporting documents for any benefit claimed.

  • Degree/equivalent qualification and evidence of the final-result declaration date where needed.
  • The applicable SC/ST, OBC-NCL or EWS documents in the required form and timing.
  • Evidence for any Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Railway-service or other relaxation claimed.

A practical eligibility decision checklist

Work through these questions in order

  1. Was your qualifying result declared by 6 November 2026? If not, the supplied notice says not to apply.
  2. Does your certificate date of birth fall within the relevant inclusive range or satisfy a properly supported relaxation rule?
  3. Can you document the nationality, community and other benefits claimed within the required rules?
  4. Is each selected post suitable under the prescribed medical standard and, where applicable, disability categories?
  5. Have you distinguished job reservation, age relaxation, fee concession and examination support instead of treating one as proof of the others?
  6. Have you checked the matching official notice and later amendments before relying on this guide?
