Eligibility checks before you choose a post

You must hold a degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification by 6 November 2026. Candidates awaiting the final result of the prescribed qualification should not apply.

The ordinary age range is 18–33 years on 1 January 2027. Category and other specified relaxations have conditions; the maximum applicable relaxation is used rather than adding grounds together.

Check the medical standard beside each post. Goods Train Manager uses A2; Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor uses B2; the two clerical/accounts posts use C2. The notice excludes candidates who have undergone LASIK or other refractive-error correction surgery from A2 posts. B2/C2 eligibility after such surgery is conditional.

Nationality and certificate-of-eligibility rules also apply. Meeting the degree requirement alone does not establish eligibility for every post.

Fees, concessions and refund conditions

Fee concessions and job reservation are different decisions. Economically Backward Class (EBC), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Other Backward Class (OBC) are distinct categories. EBC in this notice is a fee-concession category and does not itself provide job reservation.

The fee refund depends on appearing in CBT 1 and satisfying the notice’s refund requirements. Rejected or incomplete applications do not receive the stated attendance-linked refund.

Section 7.4 describes refund to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account, Aadhaar validation and bank-link confirmation. It also describes use of a family member’s Aadhaar-seeded account where the candidate does not hold an account. Check the actual application workflow and ensure the account used is valid and operational.

Pay online using the modes offered through the genuine application portal. The notice lists internet banking, debit/credit cards and UPI; applicable service charges are borne by the candidate.

How to prepare and submit one correct application

Application checklist

  1. Open the application link through an official RRB website and confirm that the form identifies CEN 06/2026 and Graduate NTPC.
  2. Read the current notice and any amendments. Check the degree-result date, the date of birth on your Matriculation/10th certificate, category documentation and medical suitability.
  3. Compare the vacancy rows for the RRBs you are considering. Choose one RRB and rank only the post/Railway or unit preferences for which you are eligible and interested.
  4. Use your correct account details and accessible contact information. The selected RRB and the details entered in Create an Account cannot be changed in the modification window.
  5. Capture the required live photograph and upload your own signature in the prescribed format. Keep any required category or travel-pass certificate ready.
  6. Review every entry before submitting, pay the applicable fee by its separate deadline and retain the application and payment confirmation.
  7. If a permitted correction is needed, use the specified modification window and pay ₹250 for that occasion. Do not submit a second application to work around an error.

Live photograph and signature requirements

The supplied notice requires live photo capture during the application rather than upload of a pre-existing photograph. It allows a computer/laptop webcam or a mobile front camera. Use a plain white background and contrasting non-white clothing, position the camera at eye level and keep the full face visible.

Do not photograph a printed or digital old photograph. Do not wear a cap, mask or spectacles for the live capture. Preview and retake the photograph before submission if necessary; follow any applicable portal provisions for candidates with benchmark disabilities.

For the signature, use your own running handwriting in black ink on white paper. Block, capital or disjointed letters are not accepted as the prescribed signature style. The source specifies JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB, a minimum 100 DPI scan and at least 140 × 60 pixels. It describes positioning within a 35 × 20 mm scan box.

A legible file must also follow the portal’s displayed checks. File size alone is not proof that a photograph or signature meets the requirements.

Which selection stages apply?

The stated route is CBT 1, CBT 2, document verification and the prescribed medical examination. RRBs reserve the right to introduce an additional CBT if required.

Section 13.0(c) dispenses with the recruitment-stage typing skill test for Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist under this CEN. Basic computer and typing proficiency remain expected and are assessed after joining, with consequences described for confirmation and promotion.

CBT 1 has 100 questions and CBT 2 has 120. Both cover General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The standard duration is 90 minutes for each, with conditional extra time and a one-third-mark deduction for each wrong answer.

Common application errors to avoid

Check before submitting

  • Submitting more than one application to the same or different RRBs. The notice provides for rejection and disqualification/debarment consequences.
  • Selecting posts without meeting their qualification or medical requirements.
  • Treating the fee deadline as the application deadline, or assuming that all account fields can be corrected later.
  • Claiming EBC fee concession as EWS/OBC reservation, or using a certificate that does not meet the required timing and format.
  • Using old CEN 06/2025 dates, a previous-cycle syllabus PDF or an unrelated examination’s application link.

Choose the next check that applies to you

Start with Eligibility if your qualification, age or medical category is uncertain. Use Vacancies to compare RRB and Railway/PU options, Salary and Post Comparison to compare the notified basic pay, and Dates to track source-backed deadlines. After completing the application checks, use Syllabus and Exam Pattern to plan both CBT stages.

Use the exact CEN number when checking official updates. An examination notice for an earlier NTPC recruitment cycle does not set the schedule for CEN 06/2026.
