Common mistakes to avoid

Using an unofficial CGPA multiplier

A multiplier such as 9.5 is not universal. Use it only when the awarding institution certifies it.

Treating eligibility as an interview prediction

IIM shortlists can use sectional percentiles, academics, experience and diversity after the common minimum check.

Selecting the wrong category

Category affects the threshold and later document verification; it must match valid application records.

Ignoring provisional-document deadlines

Final-year and result-awaited pathways usually require later proof by institute-specific deadlines.

Is there an age limit for CAT?

The latest published CAT eligibility bulletin does not prescribe an age limit. Your date of birth is collected for a complete eligibility check but does not change the result.

What graduation percentage is required for CAT?

General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates need at least 50% or equivalent CGPA. SC, ST and PwD candidates need at least 45%.

Can final-year students apply for CAT?

Yes. Final-year candidates and candidates who have completed degree requirements but are awaiting results may apply, subject to later submitting the certificate and final proof required by the admitting IIM.

Are CA, CS and CMA candidates eligible for CAT?

The published CAT conditions accept completed CA, CS, ICWA/CMA and FIAI professional qualifications when the applicable minimum percentage requirement is met.

Does being CAT eligible guarantee an IIM interview?

No. This result only checks the common minimum CAT eligibility rules. Every IIM has separate shortlisting criteria, including overall and sectional percentiles, academics and other profile factors.
