Detailed syllabus

What Changed in the GATE 2027 Syllabus?

  • IIT Madras states that the syllabi for the GATE 2027 test papers have been revised and specifically asks candidates to check the updated versions.
  • Robotics and Automation (RA) is a new standalone paper with a 60-mark common Part A and a 25-mark Electrical or Mechanical option.
  • Textile Engineering and Fibre Science has moved from standalone TF status to the XE9 optional section under Engineering Sciences.
  • The XE, XH and XL sectional paper codes now use the XE0–XE9, XH0–XH6 and XL0–XL5 format.
  • General Aptitude is organized into Verbal, Quantitative, Analytical and Spatial Aptitude sections and carries 15 marks in all papers.

How Aspirants Should Use This Syllabus Hub

  • Open your primary paper page and convert every official section into a trackable study checklist.
  • Separate compulsory common marks from optional sections before allocating study hours.
  • If taking two papers, identify overlapping topics but maintain separate revision and mock-test plans for each code.
  • Use previous-year questions to measure depth after completing each syllabus unit instead of postponing PYQs until the end.

  • Additional combinations may be announced later, while listed combinations may also be withdrawn for scheduling or infrastructure reasons.
  • The second-paper centre may differ from the primary-paper centre but should be in the same city.
