Who should use the AP TET Paper 1A syllabus?

AP TET Paper 1A is the regular Paper 1 syllabus within the Classes I–V level. Candidates taking this paper should prepare all five compulsory sections rather than selecting a subject option.

The paper differs substantially from Paper 2A because Mathematics and Environmental Studies are compulsory 30-mark components in Paper 1A.

Paper 1A vs Paper 1B

Paper 1A and Paper 1B both contain Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Language I and English. The major distinction is that Paper 1B uses Child Development and Pedagogy specifically framed for Special Education, while Paper 1A uses the regular CDP/ICT syllabus.

Child Development and Pedagogy with ICT — 30 marks

The syllabus begins with understanding the child, including childhood, family and school socialisation, child-rearing practices, methods of child study and perspectives on growth and development.

Major areas include:

• growth, development and maturation;
• social, emotional, language and moral development;
• play and development;
• cognition and cognitive development;
• intelligence and individual differences;
• Piaget, Vygotsky and other learning perspectives;
• personality and mental health;
• learning theories and transfer of learning;
• children with special needs;
• inclusive learner-friendly classrooms;
• pedagogy and teaching-learning approaches;
• assessment and evaluation;
• educational policies and Acts;
• ICT fundamentals and integration.

Language I — 30 marks

Candidates choose the applicable Language I from:

Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil or Odia.

The language syllabus combines content and language methodology. The attached PDF contains separate language-specific sections rather than one universal Language I syllabus.

Language II — English — 30 marks

English covers:

• vocabulary;
• synonyms and antonyms;
• homophones and homonyms;
• idioms and phrasal verbs;
• spelling and word formation;
• grammar;
• tenses;
• voice;
• reported speech;
• sentence types;
• clauses;
• writing conventions;
• letter, diary, email, paragraph and dialogue writing;
• dictionary skills;
• prose and poetry comprehension;
• English teaching methodology.

Mathematics — 30 marks

The official Paper 1A Mathematics syllabus contains 24 marks of content plus 6 marks of methodology.

Major content areas:

• Mensuration

Methodology covers the nature and objectives of Mathematics teaching, teaching methods, remedial measures, TLM/resources, curriculum and textbooks, instructional planning and assessment.

Environmental Studies — 30 marks

EVS combines Science and Social Studies.

Science covers areas such as:

• living world;
• plants, animals and humans;
• food and nutrition;
• life processes;
• objects and materials;
• motion and measurement;
• light, electricity, magnetism and heat;
• force, friction and pressure;
• sound and natural phenomena;
• transportation and communication;
• professions and services;
• environment, air, water and biodiversity.

Social Studies includes:

• universe and Earth;
• maps and resources;
• production, exchange and livelihoods;
• population and agriculture;
• political systems and governance;
• Indian Constitution and government;
• history and society.
