The official RRB Chandigarh site lists a CEN 06/2026 Notification dated 7 October 2026; the matching hosted PDF, later corrigenda and live application status were not independently retrieved. The dates and rules below describe the supplied PDF and should be checked against any later official notice.

Initial basic pay by post

The table combines the notified initial pay, pay level, vacancies and medical standard so you can compare the same four posts consistently. Vacancy counts are provisional and do not change the meaning of the initial-pay figure.

How Level 6 and Level 5 compare in this notice

The listed initial basic pay is ₹6,200 higher for Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor than for each of the three Level 5 posts. This is simple subtraction of the supplied figures, not a forecast of the difference in monthly take-home pay.

The three Level 5 posts start from the same listed basic pay. Their notified medical standards differ: Goods Train Manager is A2, while Junior Accounts Assistant and Senior Clerk are C2. Compare suitability and actual preferences rather than assuming that equal pay means identical work or appointment conditions.

Why this guide does not give one in-hand salary

To calculate an employee’s net pay, the applicable allowance rules, posting circumstances and deductions would have to be established. The supplied CEN does not provide the complete evidence for that calculation.

Adding an unverified DA or HRA percentage to the basic-pay figure would create a result whose assumptions are hidden. Treat any outside estimate as an estimate and check its date, posting assumptions, allowance sources and deductions before using it.

Use the initial basic pay as the supported starting point for comparison. A personal salary estimate needs the additional rules and circumstances that apply to the eventual appointment.

Compare pay alongside entry requirements

Each post requires the prescribed degree or equivalent qualification by the closing date. The pay table does not remove the age, nationality, medical or category requirements.

Goods Train Manager has the A2 medical standard, including the notice’s restriction concerning LASIK and other refractive-error correction surgery. B2 and C2 follow their own requirements and conditional provisions; they should not be reduced to “easy” or “hard” medical categories.

For Junior Accounts Assistant and Senior Clerk, section 13.0(c) removes the recruitment-stage typing test under this CEN but retains the expectation of basic computer and typing proficiency, assessed after joining. Do not confuse removal of a recruitment test with removal of the proficiency expectation.

Job duties and career progression: what still needs a source

The supplied recruitment notice establishes post names, pay levels and entry requirements. It does not by itself substantiate a detailed day-to-day duty list, fixed shift hours, a universal transfer pattern or a promotion timetable for each post.

Before adding a detailed job profile, use an applicable Railway role description, service rule or other official document and state which post and cadre it covers. Keep any inference separate from the rule being cited.

A higher initial pay level alone is not a complete assessment of which post suits a candidate. The choice also depends on eligibility, actual notified preferences and properly sourced information about the role.

A practical post-preference checklist

Compare posts in this order

  1. Exclude any post for which the prescribed qualification, medical standard or other eligibility condition is not met.
  2. Read the RRB and Railway/PU vacancy rows to establish which eligible preferences are actually available.
  3. Compare the notified basic pay: Level 6 ₹35,400 versus Level 5 ₹29,200.
  4. Obtain official information for any duties, location or progression question that materially affects your preference.
  5. Record eligible post/Railway preferences in the order you genuinely intend and review them before submitting the application.
