TNPSC Group 4 salary depends on the post code and appointing organisation. Notification 11/2026, dated 6 October 2026, lists pay levels 3, 5, 8 and 10 across different posts. It also gives specific rupee scales for three entries. A Group 4 post name alone does not establish one monthly or take-home salary.
Use the complete post-wise table below to identify the notified pay entry, then check the applicable pay-fixation rules, allowances and deductions for that appointment.
Post-wise salary and pay levels
The table covers all 46 post-code entries in section 3, pages 3–4, of the notification. Rupee amounts appear only where that post’s entry prints them. “—” in the EPF column means EPF is not stated in that table entry; it does not identify the applicable pension scheme.

Why the organisation matters
A pay-level number must be read with its service or organisation. For example, Junior Assistant (Accounts), code 3848, in Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited is listed as Level 3 with ₹19,500–62,000. Bill Collector, code 3214, in Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board is also listed as Level 3, but with ₹16,600–52,400. Do not substitute one organisation’s scale for the other.
The figures at the two ends of a scale describe its range; they do not promise the upper amount on appointment. The appointment and pay-fixation order establish the individual employee’s applicable pay.
Tamil Nadu government pay-matrix reference
The Finance Department G.O.(Ms).No.90, dated 26 February 2021 lists Level 8: ₹19,500–71,900 and Level 10: ₹20,600–75,900. These are basic-pay scale references under that order. Use them only where the appointing service or organization applies that matrix; the 2026 notification’s explicit employer-specific scales and applicable pay-fixation rules control. This is not a take-home estimate.
Basic, gross and take-home pay
Basic pay is the employee’s pay fixed in the applicable scale or pay matrix. Gross pay combines basic pay with the allowances admissible for that appointment. Net or take-home pay is the amount remaining after the applicable employee deductions.
For a useful comparison, obtain the post’s pay-fixation details, the allowances applicable to its location and service, and the actual deduction rules. The notification’s pay table does not provide a fixed DA rate, HRA amount or take-home figure for every listed organisation.
EPF and pension-scheme information
The notification marks EPF — Employees’ Provident Fund against 14 post-code entries. Check the EPF column for the exact post code.
The other rows are not labelled CPS in this table. To determine the applicable provident-fund or pension arrangement and deductions, use the appointing organisation’s service rules and appointment documents. An unlabelled row is not evidence of a particular scheme.
Job-profile guidance for comparing posts
Village Administrative Officer (VAO): The Revenue Department e-Adangal user manual describes the VAO’s role in maintaining Adangal, a village revenue record containing land, cultivation and irrigation details. This is a concrete example of land-record work to consider when comparing VAO with office clerical posts. Exact duties depend on the assignment.
As departmental examples, the Teachers Recruitment Board duties manual describes Assistant/Junior Assistant work involving notes, drafts, registers and routine section support. The Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve organization page places Forest Guards and Watchers among field staff and describes protection, patrol and wildlife-monitoring work. These examples help compare office and field roles; they do not fix the daily duties of every vacancy.
The following is editorial guidance for comparing roles, not a set of job descriptions issued in the notification. Use it to identify what to ask the appointing organisation before choosing a post.
- Role group: Junior Assistant and Junior Administrative Assistant
Work aspects to confirm: Ask about the office assignment, document and record work, public-counter duties, computer systems and any cash-handling responsibility. - Role group: Typist, Steno Typist, Shorthand Typist and Personal Clerk
Work aspects to confirm: Confirm typing or shorthand work, required languages, software, reporting arrangements and the actual technical skills used in the post. - Role group: VAO, revenue and collection posts, Executive Officer and Junior Inspector
Work aspects to confirm: Ask about the balance of office work, public interaction, inspections or field visits, travel and responsibilities specific to that service. - Role group: Record, laboratory, telephone and sales posts
Work aspects to confirm: Check the work unit, training, equipment or systems, public-facing work and any shift or location requirements rather than treating these as interchangeable clerical posts. - Role group: Forest Watcher and Forest Guard with Driving Licence
Work aspects to confirm: Check the notified physical requirements and ask about the posting, outdoor duties, mobility and driving responsibilities of the exact post.
Posting conditions to consider
Posting conditions can affect the practical value of an offer. The notification says selected Junior Assistants under code 3788 must be ready for posting anywhere in India. Sales Assistants under code 3806 must be ready for posting in New Delhi, Kolkata and anywhere in Tamil Nadu. These are specific conditions for those entries, not a posting rule for every Group 4 post.
Career growth and promotion
Career growth follows the rules of the service or organisation in which the candidate is appointed. Before comparing promotion prospects, identify the next eligible post and the rules on probation, qualifying service, departmental tests, seniority and vacancies.
The notification does not establish one promotion ladder or a fixed promotion timeline for all 46 post-code entries. A higher pay level or a familiar job title alone does not guarantee faster promotion.
